Synthopolation - a complicated mental and physical chemistry while human are working in hungry state.

Hunger will trigger the brain to secrete a substance that will aid in concentrating, but the hunger will also cause distraction on mental aspect where instinct tells the body to seek for food source. As a result, the people in synthopolation state will have a very complex and complicated physical and mental interaction, which can be devastating or constructing on the piece they are working on.

Synthopolation is always practice by monks where they make use of this state to achieve mind-peace in meditation. The fasting they done will cause synthopolation and helps in meditating, but many have been reported to have died due to long term of hunger which leads to malnutrition. From the point of view of monks, the death brought by synthopolation is what they wish to achieve, which is called Nirvana.

Rogue AntiVirus raising the stakes

A couple of months I blogged about how the creators of rogue AV solutions are keeping a close eye on developments in the antivirus market. And my colleague Vyacheslav recently wrote a whole article about rogue AV which highlighted, among other things, the huge increase in this type of malware.

Last week I looked at some samples which showed that the bad guys behind this stuff are ratcheting their efforts up a notch. Here's the GUI of Trojan.Win32.FraudPack.acji:

There are two points which attracted my attention:

The interface of the rogue AV is a very close copy of the genuine solution
The logo isn't the same, but the rogue incorporates the Windows Security Center logo, and reinforces the perception that it's a genuine product by using the name of a legitimate free AV solution.

In other words, the rogue AV guys are getting closer and closer to creating exact copies of real AV solutions, at least in terms of the GUI. This makes it much more difficult to determine at a glance whether or not a solution is rogue, for novices and more experienced users alike.

This example shows that maybe we're not so far from the time when rogue AV solutions will visually be exact copies of legitimate security software. And with the FBI estimating losses caused by scareware at around $150 million dollars, the stakes are getting higher all the time.

The evolution of rogue antivirus

We often write about the fact that cybercriminals constantly change their tactics to take account of developments in the security and software industries. And I just came across a great example of this: it shows how the people behind rogue antivirus solutions adapt their "products" to exploit developments and changes in genuine AV solutions.

A couple of months ago, Microsoft released its free anti-malware product, Microsoft Security Essentials. It's designed to ultimately replace Windows Defender, an earlier in-built antispyware product. It looks as though the guys behind the rogue AV which I just came across aren't only playing on people's fears, but on their lack of knowledge. Malware and IT threats are getting increasing coverage in the general media, but if you're not particularly interested in IT, you're not that likely to remember all the facts. Using the name "Windows Enterprise Defender" is a neat way of getting someone who might have heard of Windows Defender, and half-remembers Microsoft's latest release, to be fooled into thinking that the rogue AV is the genuine article.

Of course, the product activation process looks very similar to the genuine Microsoft process...

This case is a great example of how social engineering tactics get modified for maximum profit, and it illustrates a kind of microevolution in rogue AV solutions:

Use a name which is not related to any other software

Require payment to delete detected viruses

Use a name which is either the same name as that of existing software, or very similar

Require payment for a "product" which is supposedly part of the operating system

With the cybercriminals becoming more and more sophisticated in their approach, rogue AV isn't a laughing matter. But there is a funny side to this: the "threats" this rogue detects don't use names from Microsoft's malware classification, but from ours :)

There's a ring on my desk, beside my laptop, my sister's.
There is time of boredom, so i will take it and play with it, try to put into my finger or what.
Then just now, the boring atmosphere makes me put that ring into my right mid finger, follow by a hard time of pulling it out, and at some point, those picture in e-mail about an idiot pulls off his/her meat while removing a ring, flash in front of me.
Ring is a strange thing, maybe just to me.
My second finger joint（第二指节翻译）is the thickest along a finger, and it applied on all four except thumb.
So, a ring that can smoothly fit into my finger, is actually quite loose when wearing it, placed near the part finger and palm meet.
And if i would want a ring that fits, that will give me a hard time of wearing and removing it, as my second finger joint come and cha xiao.
Conclusion, i am not that kind of person that suits a ring?
Why not rings are made to fit any size of finger, like The Lord of the Rings.
"The Lord of the Rings" is actually refering to Sauron or the ring leh?

The Nine Emperor Gods Festival (Chinese: 九皇爺) is a nine-day celebration observed primarily in Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The Nine Emperor Gods are the nine sons manifested by Father Emperor Zhou Yu Dou Fu Yuan Jun (斗父周御國王天尊) and Mother of the Big Dipper Dou Mu Yuan Jun (斗母元君).Today, most Nine Emperor God temples do not acknowledge the existence of Dou Fu Yuan Jun. By right, proper temples should dedicate a presence for Dou Fu Yuan Jun and his name should be invoked alongside Dou Mu Yuan Jun in every Great Dipper Honouring Li Dou (禮斗) ceremonies.

On the eve of the ninth moon, temples of the deities hold a ceremony to invoke and welcome the nine emperors. Since the arrival of the gods are believed to be through the waterways, processions are held from temples to the sea-shore or river to symbolize this belief. Devotees dressed in traditional white, carrying incense and candles, await the arrival of their excellencies.

A carnival-like atmosphere pervades the temple throughout the nine-day festival. During this period of time, the constant tinkling of a prayer bell and chants from the temple priests are heard. Most devotees stay at the temple, eat vegetarian meals and recite continuous chanting of prayer. It is believed that there will be rain throughout the nine days of celebration.

The ninth day of the festival is its climax. A procession which draws scores of devotees send the deities back home (a waterway such as river or sea).

The festival structure consists of two concentric circles. The inner circle represents the core of the religious worship (baibai) whilst the outer circle symbolises the economic activity. A devout believer may stay in the inner circle to meditate, study the scriptures, and interact with other followers in the venues provided. The second circle is full of peddlers, incense-stall keepers, and other smaller businesses. All participants in this festival are required to donate a sum of money to maintain luck, to dissolve ill luck, and to give thanks. Therefore, the festival itself could be seen as an economically motivated fair as well as a religious celebration.

A little while ago, Microsoft released an update which partially disables some autorun functionality on Windows operating systems prior to Windows 7. The update, known as KB971029, is intended for Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, and Server 2008. The autorun function is used to automatically start installation processes from CDs, DVDs, and USB drives, as well as other types of removable media.

Autorun works by using a file named autorun.inf found in the root of the file system for removable drives. While this is a helpful process when used with a trusted resource, such as a software installer from a CD, it has long been a successful malware infection vector on rewritable drives.

At Kaspersky, we've frequently urged Microsoft to disable this process, as anything that automatically installs software or code without properly informing the user can and will be used maliciously. In the past we've discovered infected consumer devices, and the autorun function has been used to spread incredibly successful threats as Conficker (Kido). This listing gives you a partial idea of just how often "autorun" gets used as an infection vector.

Early versions of Windows, including Windows XP Service Pack 1 and earlier, would automatically launch software on a rewritable drive with no notification. XP Service Pack 2 and later would automatically launch a window when the drive was inserted, and you could then choose to run an executable. In fact, you could check a box at the bottom to "Always do the selected action". Malware creators often create an autorun.inf file on removable media when a malicious program launches, and this extends the attack vectors beyond network propagation. A shared USB drive becomes a threat to a network that may not even have Internet access.

With Windows XP Service Pack 2, and in Vista and Server 2008, a new feature called Autoplay was introduced. The Autoplay function pops up a window when an autorun.inf file is detected and requests action from the user. The options are to install a program, which launches the intended executable, or to open the folder to view files. While this approach is better than automatically running an executable without user knowledge, it's not exactly safe. Most casual computer users are conditioned to keep clicking until the file opens, so this just adds a step on the road to infection. The update mentioned above disables the autoplay function on writable media like USB drives, while leaving the autoplay function intact for CDs and DVDs.

Windows 7 disables the function altogether on writable external drives by default. This is a much safer approach; although it makes it more difficult for the average person to find out what to do next when trying to install something new, there's always a trade-off between security and usability. While we commend Microsoft for finally implementing this fix, it took far too long. Countless infections could have been avoided, and Conficker might have spread less widely if this simple fix had been pushed out earlier.

Chi Cham...
Just came back from dinner today..
today a bit bad luck lor... sad sad..
1st went to play basketball at evening then in between main campus student came over and play plus practise.. so we have to let them play lor..
then at night after dinner suddenly it started to rain heavily..
went to lembaran foyer awhile a sandal fell while i was walking in the water.. haha damm funny
then i fell a bit lor..
got a bit of blue black lor..sad thing..
not planning 2 do anything today d..
haha...
tired d..lol

after i read shin blog
i have the same felling

the cat...black one
he came here also leh
it is the same day i write mou tuen tuen...
that afternon got one hour break
then i decided to go back sleep a while coz i am very pening...
then just be4 i sleep the black cat came into our room
my room mate very bad dont bother the cat..
i also very pening so i also ignore it
continue to sleep
with the cat inside my room..
then bad thing happen...
i wake up 2.05 wer our class is on 2
my hp no batt cant wake me up
so sudden..y?

then i late a bit for my math..
after that at little grass meeting
